ILs are in the loop!

So we finally told some family members tonight. I told C I was fine with telling his parents after 8 weeks, but he kept putting off calling them. Finally I convinced him to go ahead and call. We got on the landline so that we could both listen in. His mom picked up, and C asked for his dad to get on the phone. Well, his mom just gave the phone to his dad so then we had to get her back on. This alerted enough suspicions that MIL apparently tried to catch FIL's eye to suggest this was a pregnancy call.

C was pretty upfront. He just said, "We have some news. Chamberlyn is pregnant!" His mom immediately started calmly saying how neat that was and how excited she is. His dad was so quiet I thought perhaps he'd hung up the phone so I eventually asked if he was still there. He said he was just listening in and thought it was all great. C's sisters were apparently at home and figured out what was going on. At one point, they began giggling in the background, which sort of annoys me because goodness only knows what they were making fun of us about.

They have agreed to keep quiet until we say it's OK. MIL had to tell SIL she couldn't put anything up on facebook. They seem excited, but it's always hard to tell with them. If my mom will actually be on board with everything, she is much more of the excited type. Anyway, C seemed content that they were happy and truly excited.

The highlight of the conversation was definitely this exchange between MIL and SIL:
MIL: Martha! You're going to be an aunt!
SIL: And you're doing to be a grandma!
MIL: Shut up!

In two weeks, we finally get to let my parents in on the news!
